ARThlete ♥ {Positive Motivation}

Summer is here! Time for me to hibernate! Seriously, I hate it here in the summertime, it's just too damn hot. Since I'm not going to be at the Farmer's Market with my little Zombees and I'm also not taking any classes in June, I've decided to amp up my workouts in an attempt to make the miserable, unbearable summer go by more quickly! 

I'm  a very visual person, so I often look up pictures to motivate myself into working out or maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Sometimes you just need a little "umph" you know? When you google these types of things, you often get a lot of "thinspo" [short for thin-spiration] which is a good idea in theory, but is generally produced and circulated by teenagers pretending to have eating disorders. There is nothing worse than looking for good workout motivation pictures and finding bony and horrifying pictures of girls whose inner thighs don't touch when their ankles are crossed with superimposed text like "he'll love you when you can do this." Yikes! Definitely a laugh/cry/eat situation. 

More recently, there have been new developments in this inspirational venue with "fitspo" [short for fit-spiration, I guess? They're losing me on this ...] which is all well and good until you come across that picture of a girl with an 8 pack and what appears to be the beginnings of a penis with superimposed text like "SWEAT IT OUT, BITCH!" Yikes, again. Definitely a laugh/laugh/nightmares situation. 

TheBerry.com recently started doing Daily Motivation posts which are just great. They weed out the ridiculous and focus on something attainable and actually inspirational. I highly recommend it!. I also highly recommend ARThlete.tumblr.com. This girl draws the cutest little real-life-meets-Disney-princess girls of normal or healthy-range weight with motivational quotes. They're all positive and I think that is what I like best. I've added some of my favorites below. Enjoy! ♥

Busy bee!! That's me!! Just thought I'd check in and see how Blogger is doing. There are big changes ahead for Zombee Candle, my little Zombees are getting a make-over! I can't wait to show everyone! They'll make their debut at the Maker's Fair in a couple of weeks, so make sure to attend!

Witchy Pumps ♥

My newest loves [well, not the newest ... I went shopping today!] are so witchy!! ♥ They're matte grey with a big fat grosgrain ribbon on the toe. My second favorite part has to be the thick heel. They're so comfortable because of that heel. Big girls like myself need support and this heel is definitely strong enough for me to run around in without tip-toeing like I can't walk in them [pet peeve!] They remind me so much of the Louis Vuitton pumps from the Fall 10 collection. Mostly because they're exactly like them!! The one bonus is that these come with a golden spiderweb on the bottom. Can you imagine a more perfect shoe for yours, truly!? I nearly fell out in the store when I turned it over to see the royal purple bottom and a damn spider web. Uh!!!! Yes!!!!

Okay, I'll calm down now ... 

Carrot Top ♥

I hate that the first thing people think when you say "carrot top" is that over-roid-raged mediocre comic, when they should be thinking of Lucy or Joanie from MadMen. Hah. In any case, I've dyed my hair! Whoo! I couldn't decide between blonde and red, so when I arrived, we talked it over and did a test strip. It seems that my hair chose for me. Cookie and I spent the day at Chemistry Hair Salon here in Shreveport and the end result was great!

My experience at Chemistry was really great. I'm glad to say that after a few years of shopping, I've finally found a great group of people to trust with my locks.  Bryan and his team have a great vibe in a comfortable and easy going space. You really get the feeling that they're all really eager to learn and try new things as well as master the skills they already possess. I've been to several salons over the years and I can definitely say that Chemistry has been my most positive experience.  [& thanks to Cookie for hanging out with me through the transformation! Billy Zane would be proud!]

My fabulous new hairstylist Aubre did such a great job and put up with me for an entire afternoon, which is a feat in of itself. I'll definitely be bugging many of you to go see her! I've got some referral cards, so let me know if you're looking for a new look for Spring and I'll point you in the right direction.
